Carl Tapp Technician Scholarship Fund
The mission of the Arkansas Trucking Association is to protect, promote and serve the collective interests of the trucking industry in Arkansas. The ATA Maintenance & Technology Council exists to focus on these specific areas of the industry. Carl Tapp was one of the founding members and the first chairman of the Council. To continue Carl’s legacy of empowering the next generation of technicians, it is our intent to provide assistance for young bright minds to pursue a path to success in our industry, an industry that has certainly provided those successes for all of us. It is because of his passion and commitment to our industry and its technicians that we are proud to announce the establishment of the Carl Tapp Technician Scholarship Fund.
In addition to the driver shortage, the industry also needs more manpower under the hoods and over the motherboards of increasingly technological trucks. The scholarship program will support aspiring techs in their education and certification pursuits at Arkansas institutions that produce workforce-prepared diesel technicians. We are excited about an opportunity to encourage growth in the technician workforce, while helping assure that the safest, most knowledgeable and skilled technicians are working on the trucks and trailers on our roads. By supporting technician students financially, we hope to honor Carl Tapp’s passion for recognizing and encouraging new talent in the field to make the workforce stronger and more sustainable.
