UACCB Opens Workforce Training Center

The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville celebrated the grand opening of its new Workforce Training Center on Sept. 21.

“Our hope is that this center will be a marker for an increase in skilled education in the state,” Zach Harber, UACCB director of career and technical education said.

Since January of this year, 415 students have taken college credit courses through the Workforce Training Center program. According to Arkansas Division on Higher Education 2020 data, students who complete the entire two years of the program earn on average $44,057 annually one year after graduation.

“The Workforce Training Center will support the needs of business and industry by developing the talent pipeline and creating a vibrant workforce to support our community for years to come," said Crystal Johnson, president and CEO of Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Community partners include the Arkansas Department of Transportation, the Office of Skills Development, several Arkansas Trucking Association members like Bill Davis Trucking, FutureFuel and Landshark Logistics, among others.
