Maverick Opens New Training Facility

Maverick recently hosted the opening of their newly expanded training center with more than 13,000 additional square feet. The $4 million center now has multiple adjustable classrooms and five new training bays, enough to train 210 drivers at any time.

Injuries Drop 30 Percent

The number of injury claims filed with the Arkansas Trucking Association (ATA) Self-Insurers Fund dropped 19 percent in 2013, compared to 2012, according to figures released by the state trucking association which manages the fund.

The Walmart Stores Inc. driver whose truck crashed into a limousine carrying actor Tracy Morgan was in the 14th hour of a work shift that began the day before, which is within allowable limits, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

The Natural State Gets Closer to Nature

In early June, President Barack Obama announced an initiative to reduce the nation’s climate-warming emissions by 30 percent by 2030. Each state was asked to develop its own plan for reaching its goal — a cut of nearly 45 percent for Arkansas, which gets about half of its electricity from coal-fired power plants and the rest from a mix of natural gas, nuclear and hydroelectric.
